Pen drawings

I started this new job around a month ago in a call center. Its not all bad, the people I've met are by far some of the coolest and it gives me time to draw. All that I had available at first was a black pen and scrap paper. Turns out drawing in pen is an absolute blast. I'm starting to get the hang of cross hatching.

 Click on them to enlarge for a better view. Unfortunately due to the nature of pen and scrap paper my scans are all affected by the light and the way the thin paper warps.

Clay Creations

April 27th there will be a fundraiser called Art for Alzheimer in historic olde Walkerville area, in Windsor Ontario. I will have a booth there and will be selling prints, greeting cards, caricatures and handmade jewellery. Here are a few of the pieces I'll be selling.

Emotional Flour Sack

A 2D assignment completed during my second year of animation school at St. Clair college. Completed using the traditional style of drawing on paper. The goal of this assignment was to Animate a featureless flour sack and give it 3 emotions.

Character Pose Sheet

This is my little skater kid character. I drew him in 6 different poses.

This is just clean lines, no colouring yet. Hes a fun character to draw. I don't have much character design experience so I'm really trying to push myself. A few more character designs should be on its way soon. Keep an eye out for them in the next few weeks.

Cherry Blossom Painting

An older warm-up painting I completed in 2010. Just a fun quick watercolour painting. This took me around 2 hours. I had this one printed onto a 5x7 greeting card available for sale at Flowers by Anna in Amherstburg for $5. 

 

Winter Themed Greeting Cards

6 Winter themed paintings I has printed onto 5x7 cards.They're available for sale at 5$ each or all 6 for 20$. Envelopes are included.

Original watercolour paintings designs except for the cardinals which we`re created by Ben Young using card stock and pastels. They we're originally created for Winter fest 2012 in downtown Windsor where we made a decent profit.

There will be more as the film progresses but for now enjoy this 2 second animation. The background is water based Indian ink on watercolour paper. The animation was completed using Toon Boom and coloured in Photoshop. The film grain was created using After Effects and finally it was all composited using Premiere. Enjoy!

Rough Character Rotation

I've started turning my Steam punk Segway dude into a character rotation. We've got a front view, 3/4 view, side view and a back view.

The lines are basically finished minus the lines to show everything is in line. I'm also going to add some colour.

Gizmo banner

A Banner I made for my store on etsy.

I used my dog gizmo as my mascot. He's a teacup shiatsu.

'92 Ford Ranger

 My '92 ford ranger was my first vehicle I've ever bought myself. It was a huge mistake though full of problems. The only good thing about this truck was that I had it wrapped. I layed out the graphic printed them, laminated them than layed them out on my truck. It kept my truck from falling apart.

Bleeding Hearts

A painting I created for valentines cards that are on sale at the Flowers by Anna shop in Amherstburg. There are 5 different cards to choose from at $4.95 each.

This is depicting the bleeding heart plant.

Winterfest Banner

A banner and a price board I designed for the Winterfest booth that we acquired over the month of December 2012.

 I printed them out on banner material, installed some grommets into them and voila, ready for setup.

My first flower arrangement

I've been volunteering for the past month and a half at Flowers by Anna in Amherstburg. It's given me great new experiences. I've been able to develop my costumer service skills, as well as it offers me a new outlet for my creative side.

For example this is the first flower arrangement I created. I had some help but I'm happy with how it turned out.

Character design

A character design I painted last night during drink and draw. Hes a steampunk segway driver and hes ready for his fancy business. I'm going to do a character rotation of him when I have a few hours to spare in the next week.

3D test

I should have been working on my final 2D film today but instead I did this.

Keep in mind that this is a test. Nothing is finished yet, especially the lighting. I've been containing the urge to work in maya since my schedule for my film is so heavy but it got loose today. I had a blast doing it and so far for the amount of work I have put into it I'm very pleased. 

On a side note This is actually modeled after my bathroom. Thank god it's not that colour.

Piano

One of my favorite paintings. It was a tedious perspective piece. I sold the original in a local art show this past year for 150$.  Prints and cards are available for purchase.

Lone Wolf

Using Watercolor and a reference I painted a closeup of a wolf in December of 2009.

3D teaset

A third year 3D lighting assignment. We had to texture and light this scene to look identical to an image he gave us.

 

I created this using an existing model the prof. gave us. We had to UV all the objects than create are textures using Mudbox and light it in Maya. I rendered out several layers including a beauty pass, occlusion and shadow pass than composite everything using Adobe Premiere.  The candle flickers as well but that's for another time.

The delivery truck for flowers by Anna in Amherstburg. The graphic was positioned and designed by Ben young. It took us 4 hours to complete the installation.
